Nicholas Fernholm is an award-winning international keynote speaker, author and entrepreneur who is passionate about helping organizations navigate and stay ahead in a world of rapid technological change, complexity and unpredictability.
With a background in Business Administration and Strategic Logistics and a strong interest in innovative technology, Nicholas became Head of Robotics at New Karolinska, where he was responsible for the hospital’s fleet of autonomous transportation robots. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he took on the role of Logistics Manager and helped build Älvsjö Field Hospital in just two weeks, as well as working as one of the project managers in Region Stockholm’s Command Center securing protective equipment for healthcare workers. These experiences shaped his conviction that complexity, properly managed, can be turned into a distinct advantage, and that in unpredictable situations, such as technological revolutions, speed beats perfection.
Today, Nicholas lectures globally with a clear focus on AI strategies, digital leadership and technology-driven change. He shows with concrete examples how frameworks like Cynefin, together with AI and data-driven decisions, strengthen the ability of organizations to act proactively and adaptively in times of uncertainty.
Nicholas founded GenericInsight.ai to help the pharmaceutical industry with advanced AI-driven pricing, and he is a Senior Advisor at ClimateTrackerInitiative, where he works to make ESG data accessible using AI. As the author of “Handbook for Unpredictability” and Sweden’s first AI-written children’s book “Triss Traktor”, he has also inspired many to act and test despite uncertainty.
He was named “Excellent Speaker 2024” by Dagens Industri, nominated for “Speaker of the Year 2022” and previously won Talarforum’s Talang Award. Nicholas regularly appears in the Swedish media where he inspires with clear, practical insights on how we can meet the challenges of the future.
When he’s not lecturing or running his AI projects, Nicholas can be found at home with his family, physically working with his body to settle his mind. You’ll often find him in a sauna on the weekends. His core belief is simple: by embracing and exploring the unpredictable together, we can turn it into our greatest strength. Our ability to adapt to technological change leans not on the speed of our planning, but the speed of our courage.
